2.2. Objective(s)
Newly resettled communities in the Jaffna district have improved access to livelihood opportunities and related services.
2.3. Need of the project (state why the project has been identified and the geographical area)
With the change of the government lands occupied by the security forces were being released systematically enabling the many displaced families to get resettled in own places after almost three decades. The project focuses Valikamam North which had the largest HSZ areas in Jaffna district. The government plans to provide the major infrastructure facilities to the resettlers while the NGO sector with the assistance of UN and other major donors support the preliminary livelihood requirements.
2.4. Method of implementation (state implementing partner and how it is implemented)
The project has been originated by UNDP and CFCD has been identified as an implementing partner. CFCD is implementing the project using core field staff team having very close collaboration with the community based organizations in the project locations.
2.5. Expected out put
A total of around 500 direct beneficiaries would be supported for engaging in agriculture, livestock and enterprises development activities.
2.6. Expected outcome
Resettled families would have improved economic assistance to go forward with other social and cultural developments.

Start date: 1 December 2017
End date: 31 October 2018

Around 40% of project has been successfully completed and the balance should be achieved in the coming months.

There are CBOs in the project villages that have been gradually re-activated and they would need more support to become sustainable. Physical structures are needed for a few while capacity development of the members should prove useful.
