Empowerment of Women and children in Post-War Scenario
2.2. Objective(s)
i.                     To empower vulnerable women headed families economically so that they are able to manage own affairs independently.
ii.                   To ensure that children from vulnerable and affected families are able to continue their education
iii.                  To make awareness on child abuse and empower the community to become the genuine guardian for the growing children
iv.                 To support vulnerable youth with skills so that they become worthy entrepreneurs
2.3. Need of the project (state why the project has been identified and the geographical area)
The scenario in the environment changed drastically with the end of the more than 3 decades long war in the country and showed quite clearly the vulnerability of more than 90,000 widows in the North and East, mostly young, who have been forced to take upon the leadership roles in the families contrary to the traditional roles played by them so far. If the children in such families are to be supported properly it should be the mothers who should be developed economically. Thus, the mandate of CFCD has to be adjusted accordingly over time to suit the reality and the need of the hour. Thus, CFCD considered it necessary for possible economic empowerment of vulnerable Women Headed Households (WHHs) so that the intervention could give hopes to the growing children in the young families.
